Ho Ho Ho!!!

Last night I laughed so much my sides ached! We had a lovely holiday party in Tarpon Springs, even though our venue got changed at the last minute.

Lovely Lenore Farkas, the Laughter Leader informed us about the World Laughter Tour which started in India in 1995, then led us through several fun exercises which involved laughing, wearing our inner smiles on the outside, and some more laughing. She also showed us how many benefits we could enjoy if we made an effort to laugh every day for 15 or 20 minutes. Who knew? Laughter is an excellent cardiovascular exercise!

Thank you for attending the party, and Happy Holidays to All!

And a special thank you to Rick, of Rick's Meats and Deli, which is an excellent pizzeria!

November Verbal Impact

Here it is as promised (the tragic, profound, tearjerker article about gratitude and thanksgiving), but I didn't write it.

> > In Matthew 25: 35-40, Jesus is speaking and He is speaking directly to you: "'For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me.'
Then the righteous will answer him, `Lord, when was it that we saw you hungry and gave you food, or thirsty and gave you something to drink? And when was it we saw you as a stranger and welcomed you, or naked and gave you clothing? And when was it we saw you sick or in prison and visited you?' And the king will answer them, `Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.’”

I've been hearing a lot of variations of the above story lately, so I thought I would share the original with you.
(You may have read it before, but when I just read it again, really read it, it brought tears to my eyes.)

How to be a Leader

How to be a Leader

Every great leader needs followers and followers need a leader.
Sometimes you are a leader and sometimes you are a follower. Do you know which times to choose which? Both jobs require a complete absence of ego.

In order to be a great leader, you need these qualities:
1. Confidence.
2. Respect for others.
3. Integrity (including honesty and fairness).
4. Creativity and innovation.
5. Commitment and persistence.
6. The ability to inspire and motivate others.

This last quality is also called charisma. It is hard to define, but we know it when we encounter it. Maybe possessing all of these qualities is what we really mean by charisma. But it seems to be something more than just a list of skills and abilities, it radiates from the inside. Are leaders born, or are they made? Is charisma an innate quality, or can it be developed?
I believe these qualities can be developed and practiced. As a hypnosis consultant, I have worked with many to develop more confidence and social ease, more persistence, and more creativity.

Leadership is no accident. According to Mary Godwin, "Being a good leader is not something that casually occurs. It takes great thought, care, insight, commitment and energy. When it all comes together, it brings out the best of who you are."

This is significant, because it mentions bringing out the best in the leader. But curiously enough one definition of leadership is to be able to bring out the best in others, while contributing to a common cause.

When I asked my colleagues about Leadership qualities, I got some interesting replies. I will give you a few examples:

The person I am thinking of is a leader I would follow. But he is not an instant success, because several false leaders would put stumbling blocks in his way. Some administrators are constantly thwarting his efforts in an attempt to cover their own ineptitude. It is a shame and a waste of energy. So, his leadership: He is intelligent and educated, but he always looks into things. He researches his answers and is not afraid to change if he is found to be in error. However, he is usually right because he does not make rash decisions or decisions based on his ego. He tries to do what he thinks is right from a considered point of view. Then he will stand strong. He is loyal and hard working. He has a code of conduct for himself and those around him. And he does not kiss up to those in power in order to elevate his position. If there is a mistake he makes it is to judge others as forthright and honest, as he is. Sometimes they are not. --Karla Guererri

The person I am thinking of is not famous. She was a prior boss of mine. I admired her greatly from the moment I began with the company until I left 7 years after that. She would never ask anyone to do anything she would not do herself. This, in turn, made our department quite happy, effective, and productive. We always wanted to do our best for ourselves as well as for her. She was an amazing teacher. She shared her knowledge in a manner that did not make you feel as though you didn't know anything. She shared whatever she knew with her staff. I learned so much from her and have never respected a boss that way since! She worked her way up to the top (so to speak) and was always encouraging others to learn more. She was human! When she noticed you being tired, or a little overworked she would suggest the next day off. It is many years later and I still think of her quite often.
--Janet Chocky

These are just some of the replies I got. Almost all mentioned some combination of the qualities listed above.

To me it seems clear that one of the most important qualities is commitment. If you don't have the commitment to a cause, you will not succeed as a leader. Sincerity and honesty are also required. If you are not dedicated to the cause, step back and let someone else take the lead. Leaders are flexible, right? That's because they are dedicated to the cause and are responsive to feedback. A good leader will consider advice from others. They are creative and open to other's creative ideas.

According to Gayle Hamilton, “You can’t follow someone who isn’t credible, who doesn’t truly believe in what they’re doing – and how they’re doing it.”

This is where the honesty and integrity come in. If you are not known for honesty and reliability, you will not be considered credible.

Leads lead by example, and several of the responses I got mention this. They say that a leader will not ask you to do something they would not do. This also strengthens your credibility.

On the other hand, I also received this from Mark Beck:
There is a Zen Buddhist story about leadership, and it underscores the trait that is most valued in leadership among cultures of the Far East: HUMILITY. It’s like Jesus told (and demonstrated) to his disciples: “The one among you who would be the greatest must first become the servant of all.”

This throws a monkey wrench into the works. It seems Leadership is more complicated than I first suspected! Let’s see if Jesus possesses the other traits mentioned:
Confidence. check. Respect for others. check. Integrity, honesty, and reliablility. check. Creativity, commitment. check, check. So why does this seem so different from the others? Ego is mentioned in the first paragraph. Jesus truly was without ego. He gave his full effort all the time. He was human, but not as human as the other leaders mentioned. And humans have egos. But they can get in the way when trying to accomplish something. Although the leader takes the credit when the thing is done, in order to achieve it, he must not focus on the glory, because that contradicts the other qualities.

Leadership is very complex. Developing these qualities will help you to become a leader should the need arise.

May you be blessed with leadership opportunities and may your leaders embody the same qualities we have just discussed!

Until next time, wishing you enlightenment, encouragement and empowerment!

Anticipating Anxiety

Anxiety. I just read how anxiety may be a beneficial thing, because it prevents you from making the same mistake multiple times.

But if you want to reduce or eliminate anxiety, call your favorite hynotherapist or hypnotist!

Hypnosis can help relieve or reduce normal occasional feelings of anxiety. I'm not talking about severe anxiety attacks. I'm talking about being uncomfortable driving over bridges, avoiding traveling if a plane is necessary to get there, or hiding in the bathroom when it is your turn to speak at a meeting.

I've known people who wouldn't drive on highways! For some reason they needed several hours to get somewhere 30 miles away. Although they said they hated highways, it's pretty clear they were afraid of driving on them. It's really hard to get somewhere in Florida if you avoid highways and bridges!

Fortunately, hypnosis can restore your confidence to stay in-control in these situations. I have worked with clients who were reluctant to fly in a plane, cross a bridge, climb a ladder, and even speak in public. Hypnosis can help you overcome avoidance behavior, so you can live your life with less stress and more serenity!

Ask the Hypnotist

Someone sent me the following question:
Don't you have to believe in order to be hypnotized?

You don't have to believe in order to be hypnotized, but there are 4 ingredients that seem to help:

1. Average or above average intelligence.
2. Motivation to make a change.
3. Imagination.
4. Willingness to be hypnotized. This is the most important.

The World Hypnosis Organization says that 90% of the population can be hypnotized. Personally, I think it is higher, but that's where willingness comes in. If you don't want to be hypnotized or if you are afraid of making a fool of yourself, you won't relax and enter into that receptive state we call hypnosis.

What I mean by receptive is that the inner critic in the mind becomes quiet and lets information directly into the subconscious mind, which is the true driver of behavior. That means you can make changes quickly and naturally by using hypnosis.

So, do you have the necessary ingredients???

Before the End

The I Ching tells me that right now is the time Before the End. Or those are the influences that are primary in my life right now. Or something like that. I don't understand it, but sometimes it seems right on target.

I thought it sounded ominous before I read the analysis. Of course it is neither extremely positive or negative. The descriptions for each of the hexagrams can be somewhat cryptic. They always explain both the positive and the negative aspects of the hexagram. For those unfamiliar with the I Ching, it is a prophetic tool to help you understand what is occurring and what would be the wisest direction to take under the circumstances.

The I Ching told me that things have changed. My goal has been attained. I have made it to the top of the mountain. But be careful, before charging down the other side of the mountain, as this is a new situation, one I haven’t experienced before.

Each ending is, of course, a new beginning. This is the last hexagram, #64. So it is before the beginning, as the symbols just start over again from #1 and keep repeating over and over again.

NGH Convention Recap

I would like to write about the convention while it is still fresh in my mind. I always meet some really interesting people from all over the world. I used to go to a seminar every hour on the hour and they start at 7am and go until 11pm Friday and Saturday, 4pm on Sunday. Actually, I’ve never seen too many on Sunday. I guess I was always too exhausted to continue for a third day in a row!

But now, after 11 years of conventions, I am more selective about who I will sit down and listen to. There are so many great speakers! I saw Sophia Kramer, who may be able to do a comedy routine after her performance of Teach your Buttterflies to Fly. What a great title for overcoming stage fright! I got to hear Dick Sutphen, who is awesome, and Chuck Mignosa, who has been a speaker for NGH for a long time. His presentations are consistently informative and entertaining. Although he says he has an objective, scientific background, I guess he worked with Ormond McGill long enough to develop his metaphysical side. I went to his workshop entitled Molecular Hypnotism. He warned us in the beginning that it might seem a little Woo-woo. It was! Imagine using visualization to repair your DNA! And yet after a pretty interesting ride, we all landed back with our feet on the ground, and intact DNA.

I also got to see a few speakers I never saw before and had two pleasant surprises. I went to a workshop called the Power of Rejuvenation (since mine was called Hypnotic Rejuvenation), and saw Angelina Ahumada, a delightful person, who is a psychologist in Mexico. Her presentation was so relaxing and encouraging. She demonstrated techniques to rejuvenate your spirit. Mine was completely different, because I had only an hour and spent the first 30 minutes talking about physical and behavioral signs of aging. I barely got through the body modality and into the mind and spirit. So Angelina and I spoke after my presentation. We may do a workshop together next year. I will focus on the physical rejuvenation and she on the metaphysical. Watch for that one!

I also got to learn 31 ways to make $100K, with Keith MacLean. Coincidently, I think there were 31 hypnotists who attended that one. This guy combines lots of content with the opportunity to capitalize on the experience of others within the group. I got to Capitalize my convention experience by seeing 2 of his 3 seminars!

So I have to say there is plenty there to nourish your body, mind, and spirit, and even your financial well-being. I just love the convention. When is the next one??!

Oh, if you want to read about my presentation, please see: http://theunwindingpath.com/transhypno/2008/08/19/a-few-thoughts-from-michael-about-the-ngh-conference/

Thank you

Thank you so much for attending my seminar, the Hypnotic Fountain of Youth.

And thank you for your concern, but I would like to request that you stop sending me advice regarding hair and makeup as well as my wardrobe. You see, it was intentional for me to appear like a fugitive from the 1980s. After reading about the study where the men from the nursing home immersed themselves in the music, periodicals, movies and political issues that were popular 20 years earlier, they looked, felt and behaved in a more youthful manner, I decided to immerse myself in the music and fashion of the 1980s (20 years ago)!

So thank you for your concern. It was not a bad hair day, just a bad hairspray day. And I will publish the photos to prove it!

Post-Convention Depression

I love the NGH Convention! I always return with renewed enthusiasm and respect for my profession, and some great new ideas to better serve my clients and students.

Regarding Hypnotic Rejuvenation (AKA, the Hypnotic Fountain of Youth), I am going to include more topical comments about life in the 80's. I suspect that 90% of my audience did not have a clue that I was dressed for the 80's. If my hair had been more fluffy, I think it would have been obvious! But, I will have to mention specifically that I am immersing myself in the 80's to facilitate my own rejuvenation, like one of the studies I mention. Nevertheless, it was energizing to wear that teal jacket with the humongous shoulder pads and all that makeup!

The airport van picked me up early, Sunday at noon. So that gave me more time to unwind at the airport. My plane was only delayed 2 hours this time. But I think I now know where road rage originated. At the airport! Anyway, I know it can't be jet-lag, since I live in the same time zone, but I feel a little bit depressed. It must be post-convention depression. I saw some great presenters and I just love the exciting environment and learning new things and especially seeing old friends.

See you next year!

Six ways to achieve goals

Everyone has goals. You probably have several different ones for several different areas of your life. The single woman has a goal to be married before she hits 35. The athlete has a goal to beat her best game. The heavy smoker has a goal to quit smoking before his doctor tells him he must. The middle-aged woman has a goal to fit in her best outfit again, before she can wear it on New Year’s Eve.

But how many people achieve success with their goals? Not many. I’ve read that only about 20% succeed. So how can we increase our odds? Try some or all of these techniques:

Visualize the desired outcome. See it, hear it, and smell what it will be like when you have achieved success. Don’t worry about how to get there, just imagine the end result. Draw it, sing it, or cut out a picture from a magazine that represents what you want. You can put this in a dream book or on a vision board, or just hang it up where you will see it every day!
Persevere. In order to succeed, you must remain committed to your goal. If you give up, you are guaranteed to fail. On the other hand, if you say, I’m going to keep trying until I make it, then you have to make it. A mistake is just another event on the way to success. You many not get it down the first or second time. But don’t give up. The third time is the charm (or maybe the fourth or fifth). They say it may take someone 7 attempts before they succeed in quitting smoking. But you know what? Practice makes perfect. If you have quit for a week or even a day in the past, you can quit permanently. It’s a good idea to keep trying different methods. Cold Turkey doesn’t work for everyone (it actually doesn’t work for most). Your local hypnosis consultant can teach you ways to reduce stress, so that you won’t be tempted when stressful events come into your life.
Ask for assistance. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Your friends and coworkers can help you if you tell them exactly what you need. And having a buddy, someone who shares a similar goal can really help with resisting temptation, motivating you to exercise, or to giving you an alternative to lighting a cigarette. Being able to call and tell someone when you feel weak helps keep you strong! The buddy system is very effective, and if you want more than 1 buddy, join a Master Mind group to help you achieve success. These are most helpful for career or financial goals. They help you get organized, set goals and give you resources or advice for everything you need.
Be your own best friend. Reward yourself for small successes along the way. It’s a great idea to reward yourself. It reinforces the new behavior, and keeps motivation high. Break your goal up into smaller bites. It’s easier to digest that way. For example, if you want to lose 25 pounds, reward yourself after each 5 pound adjustment. Make sure it’s an appropriate reward, not a hot fudge sundae for losing weight. You don’t have to give yourself food, how about jewelry instead? Too expensive? How about a new running suit, or renting a favorite video? Maybe just some candles and music to accompany your next bath.
Use self-hypnosis to stay motivated. There are many books and CDs available or you can take a self-hypnosis class, like the one offered by Enlightened Hypnosis.
Expect Success! You know, in most things you get what you expect. So make sure you intend and expect to succeed.

Good Luck! Sorry, you don’t need luck. Bon voyage! You will surely boost your self esteem by following these techniques, and this helps you to achieve one success after another.

5 Reasons Not to Go to a Hypnotist

1. I don't need to quit smoking. My great uncle Elias smoked until he died of old age at 88.

2. My spouse likes my love handles!

3. Who wants confidence, energy, success, or vibrant health anyway?!

4. If I get a promotion at work, I'll have more responsibilities.

5. I'm just perfect the way I am.

Everyone knows of someone who smoked and lived a pretty long time without contracting cancer or heart disease. Not everyone who smokes dies from one of these. It is, however, well known that there is a high correlation between smoking and these killers. Smoking cessation is possible using hypnosis. Some people find they still have to make an effort, or maybe use the patch or gum, but if they really want to quit, 66% of former smokers who use hypnosis have quit permanently. 30% of those who use hypnosis, find it easy. They just forget to smoke!

Attaining and maintaining your ideal weight is possible with hypnosis. It also helps you stay motivated.

To be continued....

New terms for Old words

Words for advanced age:

Ancient, Decrepit, Old,
withered, weathered, experienced, mature, wise, ripe, worn out, well-worn, antique, frail, distinguished, accomplished, crone, fogey, dowager, curmudgeon, …

Most are negative, especially when applied to female humans.

I am keenly aware of the disparity in gender perception of aging. I wonder why men are considered more attractive and valuable at older ages, when women tend to live longer...? That is a weird inequity. I guess it's supply and demand. There are more older women, so less valued?? This will be explored in future editions.

Aging Gracefully, what is that?

It means looking, feeling, and acting young, even at advanced ages. I read an article recently about Healthy Elders. It was about “older” people who were still active and healthy. The examples they used were some individuals in their 60s. SIXTIES! In Florida, these are not even considered “elders!” I was expecting to read about some nonagenarians or at least octogenarians, if not centenarians! I mean I saw a headline recently that said 90 is the new 40.

This is because of the new extended lifespan. People are finally living longer. Now the challenge is just to live healthier.

I’m currently reading a book about Improving Memory Skills, and it is not for just older people, but can be used at any age. I would like to point out that only in this country are we saddled with the belief that all persons of advanced age have poor memories. In other countries, older persons are venerated.

The book is called…hmmm… I forget. I will review it in the book review section. If I remember. I haven’t finished it yet!

So my Premier Presentation for the Fountain of Youth is Wednesday, at Serenity Now Books and Gifts in Palm harbor, Florida. We will take a vote to select a new, positive term for persons of advanced age and wisdom. I tend to like Living National Treasures, which is a term used in Asia.

Any suggestions?

Today

It's no accident that you read this today, my friend. You do know what today is, don't you? It probably isn't circled on your calendar, but it should be. Because today is my birthday!

I'm going to Disney world!

See you when I get back!

NGH Convention 2008

Just this morning I was thinking about what to present at the 2009 convention. And I haven't even completed my 2008 workshops!

A little preview: Saturday afternoon I will present The Hypnotic Fountain of Youth. It's a one hour presentation and you will see it labeled Hypnotic Rejuvenation on the schedule. This will be a lot of fun! I think we will make pinwheels...

We will discuss how to stay youthful and active using several different modalities: mind, body and spirit! Hypnosis is for the mind, of course.

Sunday morning, bright and early at 8am I will present a 2-hour workshop called Verbal Impact. Great name, hunh?! It is about the power of words. This time I will have time to discuss and display Dr. Emoto's work with water molecules. You might remember these from the movie, What the Bleep, which shows some of his work at a subway station. He has several books now, and even CDs. I think it's very interesting and have discussed his discoveries before, in my blog.

It should be a great convention. It always is. And it just gets better and better!

Fountain of Youth

Presenting:
The Hypnotic Fountain of Youth
Serenity Now Books and Gifts
Tampa Road, Palm Harbor
Wednesday, July 9, 7:00 pm

What are the signs of aging and can they be attenuated? Deepak Chopra says that nothing has more influence over the body than the beliefs of the mind. He also says that the most common signs of aging are caused by a "widespread social hypnosis," based on personal beliefs. So if the signs of aging are based on beliefs, it would be possible and beneficial to challenge these beliefs, and embrace a more positive attitude towards the passage of time. A guided meditation will conclude the program.

Transition

The 5 Stages of Grief come to us from Elisabeth Kubler Ross, who wrote the book, On Death and Dying.

They seem to apply to many of life's transitions, even losing a job. My program has been de-funded. What a depressing word, sounds like defunct. And I feel like an unemployed person pretending to be employed. There is much to be done before the doors are locked. I mean, the schools are still in session, and we are all stationed at a middle or high school.

Most of us are probably still at level 1, since we are still working.

The first stage of grieving is "DENIAL"-you think this cannot be happening and you act like it hasn't happened. You just don't believe it.
The second stage of grieving is "ANGER" and the question frequently asked is "why me?" You feel angry, frustrated and resentful.
The third stage of grieving is "BARGAINING" which can include begging, wishing and praying for the person (or job) to come back or not to leave.
The fourth stage of grieving is "DEPRESSION" and having feelings of hopelessness, frustration, sadness as well as dreams and plans for a new future, but even also possibly feeling suicidal.
The fifth stage of grieving is "ACCEPTANCE" which is a time that you realize the person (or job) is gone, you look for the good that can come out of the pain of loss and your goals turn to personal growth.
The good news about grieving is that there is an end to the intense emotions, and when you get to the end stage, you feel okay, you have fond memories of the person (or job) you lost, and you can see that in some ways your life has improved and you have benefitted from the experience.

The important to remember is that these are not distinct stages. Denial always seems to be first, but you can feel this and several other of the emotions associatied with the other stages at different times during the same day. And they do not always go in order. You can go back and forth many times before actually ending up at acceptance.

I have experienced four of the stages already. I tend to revisit the stage of anger most often, though. I guess I will have to do more self-hypnosis to bring myself up to the conclusion. But I need to have some definite employment plans before I come to peacefully accept the situation.

Classic Literature

Alice in Wonderland is a delightful tome authored by Lewis Carroll many years ago. Some might find it a bit olde-fashioned. I found it very instructional.

When speaking about his education, the mock turtle, tells Alice that he attended school every day, in order to learn the basics, Reeling and Writhing, and of course, all the branches of Arithmetic, namely, Ambition, Distraction, Uglification and Derision. He also explained that he learned Mystery, both Ancient and Moderne.

Gad Zooks! These subjects are still of interest to young people today!

Today is your lucky day!

Today is your lucky day! I chose this as the subject line because I am very intrigued by the subject lines in email. I am fascinated by words, and you would know this, if you have read my first blog, philologsblog.blogspot.com. I am a philolog, a lover of words and wisdom. Any why not? Today could be your lucky day. And if it doesn’t seem to be turning out that way, just press the reset button. You don’t have a “reset your day” button??? Well, you need to get one! Or you can just make one yourself. I drew a circle, filled it in and labeled it “Reset Button” on a post-it note. I have it hanging right next to my computer at work. It is wonderful. Whenever things seem to be going off track, I just press the button. And choose more positive thoughts and reframe the situation. And guess what?! It actually changes. You may have noticed that sometimes you have a bad day. And you may have noticed the moment when you decide that you’re just having a bad day and just resign yourself to it. I mean everyone has a bad day once in awhile. It’s okay once in a while as long as it is balanced out by those super fantastic days. We all have them once in a while, too. But what if we could stack the odds in our favor toward more fantastic days, than bad days? That’s what the reset button is for. Try it and let me know if it helps. It works for me. It’s a tangible reminder that I am in control of how I react to things around me. And at the very least, it brings humor to my day. And humor is a great stress reliever. After starting my research on the Fountain of Youth, I keep finding that chronic stress accelerates aging. So at the very least it will reduce stress.

Just a Quickie

I don't have time to write my usual brief, pithy article, so I'll just jot this down now and elaborate later.

I keep reading amazing things about hypnosis and I would like to highlight some of these studies here in Verbal Impact.

The University of Connecticut released a study in the mid 90's which demonstrated that
the use of hypnosis in combination with any weight program doubled the participant success rate.

DOUBLED the success rate? DOUBLED!!!
I think that is fantastic!

Have you ever wondered?

We had a small meeting on March 18. We discussed our new chapter yahoo group. Elsom Eldridge has asked me set one up for us, since we will not get any more postcards from NGH, it makes it easier to send a message to all members by typing one email. You should get an invitation to join soon. We can also post questions there, if you need any advice about a client or condition!

We also discussed the upcoming presentation on April 1 at the Dunedin Library.

Proposed Outline:
Introduction to NGH, chapter and members (Gloria)
How and when I found out about hypnosis. (Ron)
Can you be hypnotized? Book and balloon demo (Yolanda)
Applications which respond to hypnosis, including golf performance. (Mark)
My most amazing client(s)--success stories. (Patty)

Optimum Health

Since I am doing research for my presention about the Hypnotic Fountain of Youth, I’m listening to Andrew Weil on CD, Healthy Aging, Your Guide to Optimum Physical and Spiritual Well-being. As a doctor he is very interested in scientific evidence for all the myths and theories he has investigated regarding aging.

In order to keep your body in optimum condition, Weil recommends a healthy diet, full of fruits and vegetables and recommends certain supplements which are not easy to get even in the most rigorous diet.

He discusses all the remedies found in the Health Food Store that are available as supplements. He advocates taking several different antioxidants, as well as vitamins and minerals. The good news is that I have discovered a great tasting, liquid vitamin product, which includes vitamins, minerals, AND antioxidants.

See www.shopbgb.com/gloriaEH for a great multi-vitamin, mineral and antoxidant formula which is cheap, easy, and convenient!

Look and Feel Better

I have a new article posted on http://www.enlightenedhypnosis.com/ by Tom Nicoli. It's about looking and feeling better using hypnosis to establish healthy habits. It's a perfect source for my Hypnotic Rejuvenation presentation! Click here to read it:

Guess who?

"I'm not jumping on the Hollywood bandwagon and turning the clock back with a face lift. So what if my face is falling apart? I don't give a damn. Anyway it gives me character."

Who said this?

I'll give you a hint. It was a man, of course. And an actor, you would even call him a movie star.
The first person to guess correctly will receive my gratitude and recognition on my blog.

I came across this intersting quotation while doing research for my Hypnotic Rejuvenation presentation in August.

February Meeting

The Terrific Tampa Bay Chapter of NGH met last night in Tarpon Springs.

Thanks to Yolanda Douglas for illuminating the members about Emotional Freedom Technique.

Also we discussed whether there should be a membership fee or annual dues and we decided to keep things the way they are, with no fees or dues.

The next meeting will be on a Tuesday, March 18, since the 17th is St. Patrick's Day. Mark Beck has agreed to demonstrate his rapid and instant Inductions for all the members. Mark was the star of the Rapid Induction class we took in Tampa in January. Thanks, Mark!

Tuesday, March 18, 7pm-9pm, at 917 Klosterman Road, Tarpon Springs (in the Campus Run Plaza, across the street from SPC).

See ngh.net for a pretty postcard with this information, smirched with shamrocks, I'll guess, since the last one was covered with Valentine hearts.

Congratulations

Forgive me. I asked for suggestions for the title of my seminar, before I even told you the good news!

I was informed Last week that my proposals were accepted and I will be making 2 presentations at the National Guild Convention in Massachusetts in August!!!

I was deliriously excited when I got the news. I do this every year, but this time I have TWO presentations!! The first will be Hypnotic Rejuvenation and then Verbal Impact! Actually I don't have the schedule yet. But that's how I would like it to be.

Revitalizing Hypnosis

Thank you for your suggestions regarding the title of my seminar!
Here are some I liked:

Maximum Lifespan Hypnosis
Longevity Hypnosis
Hypno-Longevity
Growing Young Through Hypnosis
Younger, Stronger, Longer (using Hypnosis)

I still like Hypnotic Youthing, Although Hypnotic Rejuvenation, how to live long without getting old is the winner. Of course, I know Youth is not a verb (I am the philolog, after all), but maybe that's why I like it.

The first 3 were submitted by the same person. I like them, but my purpose is not to extend life using hypnosis. My purpose is to stay healthy, vital and youthful thoughout your lifetime. I intend to demonstrate that there is no pattern of aging that holds true in all countries. That most diseases associated with aging are really just results of a sedentary lifestyle and poor nutrition. That people can expect to be healthy if they look at the right role models. I will also demonstrate a facial massage that helps the skin stay firm and youthful.

So basically I want to add life to your years, not years to your life. If you know what I mean.

How can I become a professional hypnotist?

Someone asked me last night “How can I become a professional hypnotist?”

That was in my self-hypnosis class.

So I explained that you need only 100 hours of instruction to become a hypnotist certified by the National Guild of Hypnotists, which is the largest organization of hypnotists in the world. And that in fact it is International, not just National like the title says. We are in 65 countries now and still growing.

Also, It just so happens that I am doing a training class for Professional Hypnotists starting February 16, 2008, and running 5 consecutive weekends, on Saturday and Sunday, until graduation on March 16, 2008. The class will run from 8:30 am to 5:00 each day and there will be homework. There will also be guest speakers and willing volunteers to pop in occasionally.
You can be certified by Easter!

Tuition includes membership in the National Guild subscription to both of their publications, and ongoing support from me and the Guild for a year after certification! There are other benefits to belonging to the guild, and you can read about them at www.ngh.net or on my website, www.EnlightenedHypnosis.com.

An application is on the way to this exceptionally bright and curious student!

Please email me at Gloria@EnlightenedHypnosis.com if you are curious…

My Favorite Holiday

Hooray! It’s World Hypnotism Day! There are so many wonderful things going on, can I get it all in? Yes! Why not!

First I’m going to Susan Jacob’s office in Tarpon Springs and I’m going to have a 20-minute stress reduction session. Aaaaahhhh, relaxing and yet energizing at the same time!

Wow! That was great! Now I’ll just head to the Tarpon Springs Library to hear Gloria Constantas speak about how to make New Year’s Resolutions that I can keep. She recommended using affirmations several times a day to reprogram your beliefs so that you can change your behavior more easily and quickly. I am a great student and I seek out opportunities to learn new things. I repeat this affirmation 20 times while I drive to Palm Harbor to see several hypnotherapists at the UP Hypnosis Institute. Unfortunately, I have missed a few presentations, but I do get to see and hear Patty Scott, Katie Coffin, Debbie Lane, and others. Some people are also taking advantage of sessions offered by Patty’s students and associates. Alas, it is over much too quickly, at 8 pm.

Fortunately, the celebrations are not over yet. There is a class in the Oak Trail Bookstore in Palm Harbor on Saturday morning. It’s a workshop about manifesting abundance, called Creating Wealth in 2008, given by Debbie Lane. Yes, she spoke at UP Hypnosis yesterday, and still has enthusiasm to spare. She even does a demonstration of hypnosis with a volunteer form the audience. She even has an audience which fills the room to capacity and spills out into the back of the bookstore! It was great! Now I’m truly ready for 2008! I’m relaxed, I’m using my affirmations and I’m manifesting financial abundance and vibrant health! Wow!

I wonder what amazing things will manifest before next World Hypnotism Day??!

Do you want to get certified?

If you listen to a CD, is it self-hypnosis or hypnotism? The way I differentiate them, hypnosis is the natural state of trance that occurs several times each day. Hypnotism is when someone talks you into this state and gives you suggestions that you have previously discussed. And in self-hypnosis, part of you relaxes while part of you gives you suggestions you have previously decided on. Yet my preferred type of self-hypnosis is to make a recording for myself and then relax totally while listening to it.

Hey! if you or anyone you know, wants to become a professional hypnotist, please refer them to my website, www.EnlightenedHypnosis.com. I’m looking for a few good students for a class starting February 16 and continuing for 5 weekends. You can be certified by the National Guild of Hypnotists before Easter 2008!

Tampa Bay Chapter Rocks!

World Hypnotism Day was a very eventful day for the members of the Tampa Bay chapter of the National Guild of Hypnotists. Friday, Jan. 4, the fourth WHD, saw 2 events in Pinellas County Florida and one on Saturday. On Friday, I spoke to a group of people at the Tarpon Springs Library about how to use self-hypnosis to resolve their goals for the new year and not let them dissolve before the month is over. Patty Scott, Katie Coffin, Debbie Lane and other members of the chapter presented several topics at UP Hypnosis Institute in Palm Harbor. And Debbie Lane presented How to Manifest Abundance Hypnotically at the Oak Trail Bookstore, also in Palm Harbor, on Saturday morning. I was fortunate enough to attend (at least part) of all of these Awesome Events presented by The amazing hypnotists and hypnotherapists of the Tampa Bay Chapter.

P.S. Don’t forget, Debbie Lane also procured the Proclamation of WHD for Pinellas County….

Golf Game

Can hypnosis improve my golf game?

Immediately I think yes, of course, so I do a search on the internet and find that not only that, but it says
Hypnosis can improve your golf game and concentration! Also, an article about The MENTAL game of golf. Many athletes have used and continue to use hypnotic techniques to improve their game. Tiger Woods admits to using visualization. This is a technique often used in hypnosis. The imagination can be used to improve many areas of your life, including athletic ability. How many times have you seen the better team lose? They may have more talent and ability, but sometimes the less than stellar athletes are better prepared mentally. They don’t get discouraged if someone drops the ball. They just keep playing their best until the game is over. They don’t give up and sometimes that is enough to “Psyche” out the opponents.

When someone is in the hypnotic state they can practice their golf game mentally. And feel all the feelings they will feel when they win, or beat their best score. This mental rehearsal has been shown to keep a person in good condition, even when they have to sit out for several weeks to recover from an injury. There have been some studies done with college basketball players in some California University. The players who had injuries, but continued to practice in their minds, played with the same skill as those who actually did practice! And a later study showed that the best combination for top athletic skill, was something like 75% visualization plus 25% actual physical practice. And fewer injuries resulted from the visualized practices!

So I’d have to yes, hypnosis can improve your golf game!
