Serenity Prayer

Sometimes mere words do not have the desired impact.

Try a prayer, instead!

The Serenity Prayer goes like this:

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next. Amen.

Is worrying yourself sick, helping the situation?
If not, remember these words.

Hypnosis and Hot Flashes

I read about a study where hot flashes were reduced significantly through the use of hypnosis. There was one sentence in a book about menopause. However there was a footnote.

I think is a very promising use for hypnosis. The body is a magnificent system of organs, tissues and glands, so easily influenced by the beliefs of the mind.

First of all I think it is significant that 3 out of 4 menopausal women in the US experience hot flashes, while in some areas around the world, women have never heard of a "hot flash!" If it is only caused by a normal physical process, then it should happen uniformly, the world over.

But hot flashes are causing problems for women in the US. There are supplements you can get at the health food store. Soy is said to work for some women. HRT is supposed to reduce hot flashes. HRT can have some negative side effects, however.

There are no negative side effects reported for hypnosis.

I believe Dr. Andrew Weil recommends using non-invasive strategies like hypnosis, before trying other more potentially harmful treatments.

Hypnosis is not magic. But sometimes it seems that way. Even if hypnosis does not directly influence the way your body works, it helps you develop healthy habits, which goes a long way to keep your body healthy. Using hypnosis or self-hypnosis regularly, helps keep your immune system ready for combat, because it reduces the effects of long-term stress on our bodies. Stress inhibits the immune system, relaxation strengthens the immune system.

Im going to do more research regarding this.

Hypnotizing Toastmasters

Last night we had a fantastic meeting. It was a combination of a Toastmasters meeting and TBNGH. We had dynamic speaker, Lou Polur, who has been speaking for 48 years. Lou is a Distinguished Toastmaster and a Business Coach.

He gave us some things to think about so that we can analyze our best clients and boil down a description of them to 3 or 4 words, then use that description to get referrals from our current clients.

The best part was the summary at the end by another Toastmaster, Morthi, who asked us what we got from the meeting. It really helped us to focus in on the most valuable information.

We all had fun trying to help with slogans for an unusual product.

Unfortunately The TBNGH will not meet in July. The August meeting will take place a week after the conventionm on August 21, 2010. I will present the Hypnotic Fountain of Youth on August 13 in Marlboro MA. Friday the 13th.
